An Addiction Named You

Is this what they call addiction,

This pull, this ache, this sweet affliction?

They say drugs can take you high,

But you—you’ve made me touch the sky.

Each word you speak, a dose I crave,

Each glance you give, a wave I brave.

Being with you feels like my only art,

A rhythm engraved deep in my heart.

Without you, hours stretch like years,

A silence soaked in restless tears.

Staying away feels like losing my soul,

Like I’m a wanderer who’s lost his goal.

Taking care of you, hearing your voice,

Was never a task—it was always a choice.

The only job I ever wanted to do,

Was loving, cherishing, and living for you.

Now these moments apart feel cruel and raw,

Like time itself has sharpened its claw.

But even in pain, one truth shines through:

There’s no remedy for me but you.

If this is addiction, then let it be,

For you’re the only high I need to see.

And if you feel the same, my dearest muse,

Then together, we’ve found a love we’ll never lose.
